‘FLOTSAM & JETSAM’ explores turning war to peace, famine to feast, pestilence to celebration and death to birth. It uses acrobatic stilts with butoh dance and contact improvisation in the context of spectacle based drama as a form of public ritual to activate the imagination of the general public. It is theater, dance, circus, and performance art.
‘CALLINGS’ is a poetic homage to the sirens of the sea. Inspired by the challenge of climate change it speaks in transformational metaphors using the craft of acrobatic stilts, Contact Improvisation, Contemporary dance and Butoh. The ghost of a sea captain and the primal siren of the sea confront the sailors of commerce, seducing them into the awakening that the ocean is a living being.
'THE VANISHING POINT' is a dreamlike physical poem evoking images of evolution and extinction. In a distinctive movement style drawing from Butoh and contact improvisation. It creates a poetic and otherworldly spectacle of stilt creatures that transform repeatedly, evoking the wonder and sadness of what it means to be – or become – human.
'MUDFIRE' invokes our ancient relationship with the power and passion of fire. Echoing the struggle of gods and humans to control the trickster like force of flames. It’s multi-dimensional dramatic images recall different elemental images from before the beginning of time: the dances of fire and rain, the moon in the clouds, a boy and a beast racing against a raging inferno, the rebirth of the forest.
