The Roving Wave Festival is a traveling festival suitable to all-ages conceived by Carpetbag Brigade director Jay Ruby that brings free live performance culture to five different cities and towns in Yavapai County.
After starting their work in conjunction with the Tsunami on the Square festival, the Carpetbag Brigade toured three repertory performances internationally for two decades before returning to Yavapai County shortly before the pandemic. The Roving Wave festival is the renewal of their unique performance work and its interface with the local community. The Roving Wave Festival has been performed in Sedona, Prescott, Jerome, Cottonwood, and Prescott Valley to date.
In 2024, the Roving Wave Festival featured the acrobatic stilt dancing of The Carpetbag Brigade performing their new work “Flotsam & Jetsam”. Driven by a passion for story and service Chase Archer has been connecting with audiences through juggling, flow arts and new circus theater for over a decade. Chase presented two mesmerizing self-devised creations. Meg & Thatcher’s “OK Apocalypse” aimed to dress the wounds, set the bones, cool the fever and bring down the swelling of our collective trauma in the very midst of turmoil through story, song, poetry, movement and connection. The TBD Show Puppets comically satirize current living conditions poking fun at the follies of humanity. There was be spoken word performances from Mona Nyree and singing from Sasha Waddell.
